1) Delight
It’s been 33 years since the release of A Christmas Story and now, with a sequel on its way, we have lots of reactions. The reactions are generally positive with one or two negative responses, but it all comes down to expectations. No one will be disappointed if they’re expecting a continuation of Ralphie’s story and that was what they got. It was worth waiting for! Of course there were some mixed reviews about this movie. Some people weren’t happy with how dark the tone had gotten over time, others thought the movie didn’t live up to their memories of A Christmas Story, but most loved it and were glad to see how Ralphie had grown up into an adult just like his father said he would when he was 10-years-old.
2) Skepticism
The original A Christmas Story is a classic. It’s one of those movies that when it comes on TV, you just have to stop and watch it. The first time I heard about the sequel, I was pretty skeptical.
However, when I saw it for myself, I was pleasantly surprised by how much of a faithful remake it was. It’s a movie with some new twists and turns but still retains all of the charm from the original. Plus, it even has some new cameos which are pretty neat!
I would recommend watching this movie even if you’re not a big fan of sequels or remakes because in my opinion this is one worth watching.
3) Nostalgia
It’s been a long time since I saw A Christmas Story. And now, there is a sequel coming out this year. I had never seen The Old Man and the Turkey or anything else before I watched A Christmas Story, but they were all so good. The thing that I loved about this movie was how it captured what it was like growing up in the 1940s and 50s, when kids didn’t have iPads, iPhones, or any of that other fancy stuff. It felt like a different world because we are so used to having everything at our fingertips. But back then, you couldn’t go to Walmart for every little thing and get whatever you wanted right away. They really had to wait for Christmas Eve and hope that the presents their parents got them were something they wanted. The suspense made the whole experience feel like magic; watching these characters on screen is going to make me feel nostalgic again!
4) Joy
It’s hard to believe A Christmas Story is getting a sequel. I am so excited! I saw it in theaters when it came out back in 1983 and loved it. I even bought the soundtrack for my ipod. The movie is about Ralphie, an undersized kid who wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. It’s not just his story either – there are plenty of other characters with their own storylines that interweave with his. His parents, Randy and Myra, both want him to be happy on Christmas Day but have different ideas of what he should get. His little brother Randy Jr. is completely enamored with the Red Ryder BB gun as well (he got one last year) but isn’t allowed to have one because he keeps shooting everything with it that he’s not supposed to shoot.
5) Disappointment
I was filled with excitement when it was announced that a new A Christmas Story sequel was coming out. I can’t remember when I first watched this movie, but it’s been one of my favorites for years. It’s a timeless classic. They did such a great job in the original and I couldn’t wait to see what they would do with a sequel. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as I had hoped. This is a story we’ve seen before and while everything just felt like more of the same old thing, there wasn’t any fresh material in this film. The magic just wasn’t there this time around and it makes me sad because I loved the original so much.
6) Anger
I will never understand why Hollywood insists on ruining every good thing with a sequel! This is just another example of why I stopped watching TV shows and only watch movies. For some reason, sequels just never seem as good as the original. And what’s even worse is that they often ruin everything that was great about it in the first place. I mean, seriously? They had to make a sequel to A Christmas Story?! Really?!? It doesn’t need one! It’s perfect how it is! They could have made a sequel called A Thanksgiving Story or An Easter Story, but NO! They had to go and wreck my favorite holiday movie with this piece of garbage. I’m so angry right now.
7) Anxiety
I know, I know. It’s been a long time coming. But it’s finally here! The new A Christmas Story sequel has just been released and I couldn’t be more excited – or anxious, for that matter. I’m so worried about how this will compare to the original story! Will it live up to all of my expectations? Or will it end up like The Grinch Who Stole Christmas or Jingle All The Way? This is going to be a very anxious wait for me, but in the meantime let’s take a look at what other people are saying about it so far…
