Popular Comedies That People Just Don’t Think Are Funny

The latest comedy to hit the theaters and become an instant smash hit is (blank). Although critics have given it great reviews, and fans seem to enjoy it, there are some critics who just don’t get the appeal of this particular comedy. While these movies may not be funny to everyone, they are certainly some of the most popular comedies around today. Here’s a list of popular comedies that people just don’t think are funny.

1) The Office

The Office is an American comedy television show that aired for nine seasons on NBC. The series is about the daily lives of the employees at a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The show is one of the most popular comedies of all time and has won numerous awards including Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Despite its popularity, many people just don’t think it’s funny. One reason for this could be due to how slow paced it can be and another could be that some people find it too predictable. Regardless, there are plenty of other comedies out there that are worth watching like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, 30 Rock and Seinfeld among others.

2) Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation is a humorous show about the people who work in the Parks Department of Pawnee, Indiana. The show was created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, who both worked on The Office. The show follows Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) and her colleagues as they go about their daily lives. Parks and Recreation also has a number of well-known guest stars such as Paul Rudd, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott and Rob Lowe.
In March 2017 NBC cancelled Parks and Recreation after seven seasons due to low ratings.

3) Brooklyn Nine-Nine

One of the most popular comedies on TV is the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which airs on Fox. The show follows a group of detectives in the 99th Precinct of the NYPD as they solve crimes, handle their personal lives and make each other laugh along the way. Created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, it was loosely based off of a cancelled show called Police Squad! but has since evolved into its own comedy phenomenon.
Some critics are not impressed with this comedy classic, claiming that it doesn’t have enough jokes or anything too funny to share with their friends.

4) Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is a sitcom that airs on CBS. It features four friends: That’s why I like this show called The Big Bang Theory. It stars me, a mathematician, an engineer, and a lovely young woman. The series mainly deals with geeky topics like science and comic books. The show is immensely popular but also seems to be one of the most hated comedies on TV. Why? Some say it’s too nerdy for them, others say the humor is too dry. But you can’t deny that it has its fair share of clever jokes too! We’re not sure what people are so mad about when they give this comedy such low ratings. Maybe it just isn’t their cup of tea.

5) Veep

Veep is a show that follows Selina Meyer, a character played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, as she faces the challenges of being Vice President. The show has been praised for its witty humor and strong female lead character, who is not afraid to get her hands dirty in order to get things done. It also deals with issues that can be difficult to discuss in comedy such as sexism, sexual harassment, and governmental accountability. With its first season released in 2012 and its seventh season premiering this year, Veep has developed a cult following among critics and fans alike. Although it was largely overlooked when it aired on HBO, the series has now received 21 Primetime Emmy Awards including four Outstanding Comedy Series Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (to Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

6) The Good Place

The Good Place has to be the most hilarious show on television. The show is about a woman who dies and goes to The Good Place, which is actually not very good. The main character, Eleanor Shellstrop (played by Kristen Bell), tries to figure out how she ended up in The Bad Place with her ex-boyfriend, Jason Mendoza (played by Manny Jacinto).
Along the way, she meets Chidi Anagonye (played by William Jackson Harper), who teaches ethics; Tahani Al-Jamil (played by Jameela Jamil), who’s always trying to one-up everyone; and Jianyu Li (played by Manny Jacinto) who doesn’t speak English.

7) One Day at a Time

One Day at a Time is the perfect show to binge watch. It’s light, it’s funny, and it has serious moments that keep you engaged. It is a remake of the classic 1970s sitcom of the same name and follows three generations of a Cuban-American family living in Los Angeles. The series focuses on newly widowed Elena (played by Justina Machado) who balances her career as an Army veteran with motherhood. The comedy revolves around Elena raising two teenagers — rebellious Alex (Marcel Ruiz) and intellectual Elena Jr. (Isabella Gomez). Together, they navigate life as a new blended family, set out to establish their own identities and forge their own paths in the world while coming to terms with the death of their beloved grandmother – all under one roof.

8) Santa Clarita Diet

Santa Clarita Diet is a Netflix original series that follows Sheila (played by Drew Barrymore) as she tries to keep up with her seemingly normal life, while also dealing with the fact that she’s now a zombie. Alongside her husband Joel, who is played by Timothy Olyphant, they experience the highs and lows of being undead together. The show is well-known for its quirky sense of humor and dark comic elements. It has an 8.2/10 rating on IMDB and an 8.5/10 on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the most popular comedies out there. But what makes people think it isn’t funny? Some may say that it’s too silly or absurd to be funny; others might find some jokes too dark or not relatable at all. Regardless, this show has been applauded for how different it is from other shows on TV today.
