How do we know when Hollywood has made a movie that’s so good that it needs to be remade? We just know, and here’s our list of some Hollywood movies that deserve a remake. From these iconic titles to underrated gems, these movies are better than most things you’ll see on the silver screen today, and they deserve another shot. So come with us as we explore Hollywood movies that should be remade in the future, and share your favorites in the comments section!

1) The Omen

This 1976 horror movie was directed by Richard Donner and stars Gregory Peck and Lee Remick. It tells the story of an American diplomat (Peck) who gets involved in an international conflict between the US, China, Taiwan, and North Korea. Peck is unaware that one of his sons is the Antichrist, but becomes aware when his son begins to show signs of demonic possession like being able to speak perfect Latin at age five. The Omen deserved a remake because it was genuinely scary and suspenseful for its time period.

2) War of the Worlds

War of the Worlds is one of Spielberg’s most underrated movies. In fact, it was nominated for three Oscars (Best Visual Effects, Best Sound and Best Sound Editing) but it didn’t win any. The movie has an excellent cast with Tom Cruise as Ray Ferrier who has to protect his children and reconcile with his estranged ex-wife in the midst of an alien invasion. One of the most unique parts of this film is that Spielberg decided to make the aliens frightening by not showing them and only letting their destructive power be seen.
The movie is also genuine in that after making this entertaining spectacle, Spielberg takes time to explore what happens when people are put under unusual stresses and have to come together in order to survive.

3) Jurassic Park

Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton’s 1993 classic, Jurassic Park was both ground-breaking and revolutionary. Jurassic Park brought the idea of life finds a way to life. The movie was filled with amazing special effects that still hold up today, as well as an emotional story about family. I would love to see what could be done with this story in the current climate of CGI and visual effects.

4) Jaws

Jaws is the story of a giant great white shark who terrorizes the small coastal town of Amity. Young couple, Chrissie and David Brody, are on their honeymoon when they encounter the shark while out in sea kayaks. They have to find away back to shore before the shark finds them. This is one movie that should be remade because it captures the true spirit of what people love about summer movies: horror and suspense with an underlying sense of hope that everything will turn out okay in the end.

5) Carrie

Released in 1976, Carrie is based on the 1974 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The story follows Carrie White, a high school student who is ostracized and ridiculed by her classmates because she is unathletic and socially awkward. She discovers she has telekinetic powers after being humiliated at her first school dance, but with no one to help guide her abilities, the consequent rage unleashes havoc on her small town.

6) Godzilla

In cinema history, Godzilla is one of the most recognizable monsters. He first appeared in 1954 and has been featured in more than 28 films. Godzilla is often seen as a symbol of Japanese identity, and his story reflects changing social values in Japan. One of these changes came with the release of Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971), which was seen as an environmentalist film that called for greater global cooperation to protect Earth from pollution and devastation. With this film, Godzilla established himself not just as a monster that destroys cities, but also as one who defends them.

7) The Mummy

Released in 1999, The Mummy featured Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah. The movie is about an archeologist who uncovers the mummy of an ancient Egyptian princess. He opens her tomb and releases her spirit so that she can seek revenge on him for his arrogance. The story takes place in 1922 when the archeologist, Rick O’Connell, accidentally awakens this malevolent being from her crypt beneath the desert sands near Hamunaptra in Egypt. The mummy’s name is Imhotep and he was punished by being entombed alive for eternity for trying to usurp power over Egypt after marrying Princess Ankh-es-en-amon under orders from Pharaoh Seti I.

8) The Addams Family

Superman is one of the most famous superheroes in existence. The original film was released in 1978 starring Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, and Ned Beatty as Otis. The movie follows Superman’s journey from when he first arrives on Earth to battling Lex Luthor and saving the day. This movie has everything – humor, romance, suspenseful action sequences and an incredibly iconic superhero. It’s definitely worth watching again or for the first time if you haven’t seen it before!
