The Governor Awards celebrate excellence in the filmmaking industry, and we were honored to attend this year’s ceremony! There were so many gorgeous looks that we loved this year, but these stood out as the best of the best. Take a look at the looks that made our list!
1) Lupita Nyong’o in custom Calvin Klein Collection
Lupita Nyong’o donned a stunning Calvin Klein Collection dress at the red carpet. The olive green dress featured a high neck and long sleeves, with a tulle overlay that cascaded down her front. The actress accessorized with sparkling jewelry and matched her hair color to her dress for an edgy look. Lupita is set to present at tonight’s Governor Awards ceremony and will be honored with this year’s Cecile B DeMille Award for Outstanding Achievement in Motion Pictures. Jennifer Lopez wore a custom Roberto Cavalli black jumpsuit paired with silver stilettos. She rocked a center part and loose waves throughout her locks, which were swept over one shoulder of her jumpsuit. Angelina Jolie donned a white silk crepe gown by Atelier Versace which had sheer panels on both sides of the dress. She styled it with soft waves in her hair and added gold earrings. We love how these stars slayed their looks on the red carpet!
2) Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton
Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton
The best dressed list was filled with many of Emma Stone’s red carpet looks, and this look was one of them. This simple yet chic Louis Vuitton dress had a white top with a black belt at the waist. It was paired with a short black skirt, which gave her an edgier look. Her hair was worn down and natural and she kept her makeup to a minimum – just some mascara, eyebrow filler, and lip gloss. She let the dress speak for itself and it certainly did not disappoint.
3) Ruth Negga in Valentino
Ruth Negga in Valentino is a favorite of ours. We love how she rocked this dress and we’re not surprised that she walked away with an award for her work on Loving. She’s a total stunner.
Ruth wore a black, long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder gown by Valentino to the Governor’s Awards on Saturday night. A split at the front of the dress revealed some skin, but also had some sparkle with matching silver sequin appliqués throughout its body. The gown had lace-up detailing on its back that gave it an edgy vibe while still being glamorous and glamorous in gold stitching down its front.
4) Mahershala Ali in Ermenegildo Zegna Couture
With his wife, Mahershala Ali took home the award for Actor in a Supporting Role on Sunday night. The multi-talented actor not only had some of the best looks of any men on the red carpet but his wife’s stunning gown was one of our favorites. We loved how she topped her gorgeous custom Ermenegildo Zegna Couture ballgown with an off-the-shoulder cape and draped pearl earrings. From head to toe, Ali had us captivated by her unique beauty.
5) Naomie Harris in Gucci
Naomie Harris, star of Moonlight and Academy Award nominee, was one of the many stars who graced the red carpet at The Governor Awards. She wore a sleek black Gucci dress paired with a white fur coat and black ankle boots. Her look was simple but stunning. The long-sleeved gown fit her figure perfectly, while her hair was styled in loose waves. A few strands were pulled back on either side of her head to give off an elegant, chic vibe. 6) Nicole Kidman in Givenchy
Nicole Kidman in Givenchy closed the show with a bang. The stunning gown featured a one-shouldered bodice and silk tulle skirt with lace and embroidery, plus an elongated train that trailed behind her as she walked down the red carpet. Nicole was also wearing a pair of Stuart Weitzman’s high heel pumps, which retailed for $995.
Kidman also wore Lorraine Schwartz jewels—a diamond choker with matching earrings—in addition to earrings by Graff. Her makeup was done by Tom Pecheux while hair was styled by Eugene Souleiman.
7) Dev Patel in Burberry
At the Governor Awards, Dev Patel rocked a blue Burberry suit. The star was humble about his success, thanking those who made it possible for him to be in this position. I’m not going to say that I deserve any of this, he said when receiving his award for best actor. I want to take this time to thank my parents for their unfaltering support. It’s because of them that I can stand here today as a living example and promise you all out there watching around the world, if you believe in yourselves as much as they believed in me then anything is possible.
8) Viola Davis in Michael Kors Collection
Viola Davis, who took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, looked stunning in a strapless velvet Michael Kors Collection dress. The black and white dress featured long sleeves and an open back with a dramatic train. And she rocked that beautiful mane of hers down in waves. We’re so happy to see her slaying the red carpet once again!
